Just got off the line with John at Seaforth Landing, the Pacific Voyager with 16 anglers had one hell of a trip. They returned today to the docks of Seaforth Landing with 16 very happy and tired anglers.
16 anglers had a epic drifts with 73 yellow fin tuna from 20 to 40 pounds, 22 blue fin tuna from 15 to 30 pounds, 1 albacore, and 6 skip jack. 102 mixed fish for the anglers aboard the Seaforth landing vessel, and Seaforth has boat on line for you.
Our weather was a bit windy today, with 15 to 18 knots of breeze, clear skies, and sunny.
Our morning started out with a decent Calico bass bite, (early morning). Most of the bass were in the 3 to 4 pound range. Around 05:00 Roy moved the boat, and the rest of the morning was slow. Around lunch the dinner bell went off. We had one drift for over 2 hours. It was steady, but not wide open. We would have a good afternoon of Yellowtail fishing. Most of the fish were in the 12 to 15 pound range.
We departed the area around 18:00 hours and now we are headed northwest. We will try our luck at offshore fishing tomorrow. So wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our daily events. The R/p crew.

Hi friends. Our weather got a little bit better throughout the duration of the night and currently our weather as of now is just some breeze with a light sea state. We kept on motoring up the line today and found ourselves at our familiar yellowtail spot to do a little fishing for some cows before calling it a trip. The afternoon bite or lackthereof didn't really materialize but we gave it a good shot up until dinner time. We managed to capture a few nice one and some calicos in absolutely prisitine weather but the hot bite here was nonexistent. Back to the weather, it honestly seems like with the exception of the days traveling down that we haven't had a nice weather day the entire trip. Bottom line, we were ecstatic to be out of the weather and it was a nice day for "change of pace" fishing. What I mean by that is for the past 5 days we've been doing some hardcore angling for large tuna and wahoo so to just wet a line and not worry about making a huge catch was a breath of fresh air. We weren't worried about trying to yank on a big yellowfin or trying to catch up with a fast paced wahoo bite that gives us the adrenaline rush that we all desire. The day was reminisent of when you're on the bicycle at the gym and you do the 2 minute cool down after the intense pedaling session is complete. This afternoon was the 2 minute cool down. Don't get me wrong, we would've loved to have pulled on some premium yellowtail's but it never happened so we took it in stride and enjoyed our last hours of fishing with our good friends. Just like when you go to the pond as a kid and hope to catch a blue-gill or something like that. Nice way to wrap this trip up that's for sure.
So we're done. We anchored up and enjoyed a tasty pork loin dinner before we pushed the throttles forward and set her on course for San Diego. We'll be traveling all day tomorrow and hopefully the weather will cooperate. The forecast looks OK, we'll see if there is any truth to that. Hopefully the weather man is wrong but in a good way. We'll check back with you tomorrow and thanks for checking in.
Back on the World Famous EL BUDSTER. Yancy Nichol catches and releases a 150 lb. STRIPED MARLIN. It is caught on a live Caballito. The fighting time was 40 minutes. His party also catches eight DORADOS ( 15 - 20 lbs. ). They keep four and release four. Fishing on the EL BUDSTER II. The Kurt Schill party from Detroit, MI catches nine DORADOS ( 15 - 20 lbs. ). They keep five and release four. All the fish were caught at the Lighthouse Reef. The water temp. was 81 - 82 degrees.
The Condor checked in last night as they finished up their 1.5 day trip. They ended up with 30 mixed bluefin, yellowfin, with 10 albacore to 35 pounds, and some skipjack to go with it.
The Condor goes again tonight for a 1.5 day trip then again on Sunday night.
For our 1.5 day trip, we came 120 miles on reports of a few yellowtail on kelps and a few tuna on common dolphin. Unfortunately we didn't find any kelps and found no tuna on dolphin. We ended up going in to the coast to try for some rockfish and fish a little, instead of driving around all day for nothing.
We managed to catch around 80 rockfish, a mixture of red rock cod, ling cod, sheepshead and whitefish. The weather is calm and I think everyone enjoyed a few hours of fishing. The offshore scene is still unpredictable and so we are unsure of what we are doing next trip.
Stay tuned, Capt Art
Plenty of room on some great upcoming trips.

Seaforth Landing checking in this evening with a nice hit on the San Diego on their 3/4 day run. They picked up 3 yellows and 6 yellowfin for the 7 anglers. The local 1/2 day trips had nice bass fishing with some bottom fish to go with it.
Seaforth Landing has a full schedule of trips running daily.
Call 619-224-3383 for trip information and reservations.
The Enterprise checked in this evening with a nice day at Catalina. Very good calico bass fishing with a few barracuda and lots of bottomfish and perch to go with it.
The Freelance checking in as they head home from Catailina with nice fishing. 80 on the clicos with 60 bonito and they went 3 for 10 on the yellowtail.
The Freelance runs daily leaving at 7 am and don't forget about twilights every night leaving at 7 pm.
Good evening folks. We successfully made it through a very sloppy night of weather to arrive our destination in the early morning hours. After trolling around for a bit and with only a small handful of wahoo to show for our efforts we decided to drop anchor to get setup for tuna fishing. Not long after we got established in our spot the tuna's started to bite a little bit and this trend would continue throughout the morning. Nice grade of fish too. 40-65 lbs. with a few bigger and a few smaller to round out our already stellar catch of fish. We certainly didn't land everything we hooked and we had some real heartbreaks. Whether it was pulled hooks, chew-off's, or shark related incidents we did lose our share of fish, but that's fishing. Needless to say, we were happy with what we threw in the fish holds this morning. While doing work on the tuna the wahoo seemed to build up as the day progressed as well and we picked away at them when they rolled on through. Kind of herky-jerky fishing to be honest with you. Does one tie on a wire leader for wahoo and risk the chance of not getting a tuna bite or does one stick with straight mono and risk the chance of landing a wahoo? Either way, we still lost a lot of wahoo and when the tuna bite disappeared we pulled anchor to go take care of some wahoo fishing proper. Marauders, bombs/raiders, and wire leaders. We were ready to roll as were the wahoo and we slowly but surely put a really nice day together on the skins. A real nice grade of fish too. Definitely a few more hoo's from 40-60 lbs were captured today. Breaking it down, we had a very nice day on the skin with a nice mix of tuna to go along with it. We're happy and we couldn't have asked for a better way to end our stay down here.
When all was said and done, our wahoo honey hole had dried up and we pointed her on-course for yellowtail land to try to not only get in a few hours fishing tomorrow but also to try and avoid the weather that's forcasted. Our weather is currently OK. It could definitely be better but as long as the water pitchers are staying on the dinner table you're not going to hear too much more complaints out of us. We'll be trying for some of those premium yellowtail's to put a lid on the Garry Roberts 9 day trip. We bid you farewell, happy September, and we'll chat with you tomorrow.
Seaforth Landing reporting in as the San Diego on their 3/4 day run has 6 yellowfin on deck to 30 pounds for the 7 anglers and plenty of fishing time left.
The catching from the Puerto Morelos area continues to be an interesting mixed-bag of surface and bottom fish that tends to keep the anglers busy throughout the fishing days. Oddly enough, with all of the inclement weather along the Eastern seaboard, it has not had any adverse effect on the greater Puerto Morelos area from Cancun to Cozumel. The overall combined fish count for 14 days fished reflected 11 Atlantic barracuda, 18 bonito, 26 Spanish mackerel, 1 yellowfin tuna, 1 shark, 1 jack cravelle, 1 grouper, 2 triggerfish, 3 snappers and 1 amberjack.
PM Climate: Mostly cloudy with some scattered showers and temps from 75 nights to 92 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Sea temps holding stable at 85 degrees and calm seas as of this morning with almost no tropical surface breeze.
Best Fishing Area: No specific area reported but the boats begin fishing within a few minutes of the entrance to the Marina El Cid.
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged and un-rigged ballyhoo still prevail as the bait of choice for the skippers in this area.
Captain Temo Verboonen reported very unstable conditions throughout the area with rough and windy seas that were not safe for charter fishing. He said only a single commercial boat fished this past week and the skipper reported a few dorado and yellowffin tuna at the 26- mile mark, but also reported the ocean was very rough and lots of wind. "We have a new depression in front of Guerrero State that will probably continue to create unstable sea and weather conditions for this area". Lots of rain, especially at night and a couple of inches are predicted over the next day or two.
IZ Climate: Partly cloudy to total cloudy days with temps from 72 nights to 89 daytime highs. Rainy afternoons and nights and windy days.
Sea Conditions: Very rough and windy and unstable conditions throughout the area with a new tropical depression right out front.
The adverse weather and just the general worldwide economy have had it's overall effect on most of the Pacific coast sportfishing resorts during the latter part of the summer fishing season. This past week reflected 3 port closure days and interruptions to the daily fishing regimen that made it very difficult to get back to finding the fish and better fishing locations. The Aries Sportfishing Fleet reported in for a total of 5 outings over 3 fishing days for the offshore fleet that reflected a smaller blue marlin, (225 lbs. estimated) 1 sailfish, 3 yellowfin tuna and 8 dorado. The inshore fishing for the super pangas reflected limit fishing for dorado for the 2 fishing days with most of the fish in the 10-12 lb. range.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy days with temps from 79 nights to 89 daytime highs and some scattered rain during the nights.
Sea Conditions: An unstable week for Mazatlan and the surrounding area that reflected rough and windy conditions during the early part of the week and settling to calm and peaceful conditions as the week progressed. Water temps remained stable at 85-86 degrees
The fishing remained pretty good this past week from Cabo San Lucas, and while we had no black or blue marlin caught, there were a few very early releases and about 75% of the boats reported the landing of a billfish. The "Gaviota IV", skippered by Captain Octavio Castillo, had a 3 striper release day on Wednesday, fishing in the 1150 fathom vicinity. The "Gaviota III", sippered by Captain Manuel Castillo, had the only sailfish release for the week and "Tuna Time", skippered by Captain Christian Lopez, reported the only wahoo. The overall combined fish counts for the fleet for 11 days fished reflected 1 sailfish released, 7 stripers released, 1 wahoo, 3 yellowfin tuna and 23 dorado.
Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 76 nights to 93 daytime highs and a little humid.
Sea Conditions: Very good on both sides of the peninsula. Pacific side temps ranged from 82-83 and wrapped the Cape to the Gorda Banks and then rose to 86-87 degrees. Good, blue water and fishable in all areas.
Best Fishing Area: The 1150 Fathom spot was the best for stripers but overall, Cabo Falso to Migrino provided the best action.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait best for the billfish, albeit, several were attracted on the mackerel colored artificials. Dorado were scattered about the close to shore areas on the Pacific side and bit the lures and live bait.
Live Bait Supply: Mostly caballito at the regular $3.00 rate.
The Sepcial checked in this morning loaded up with live squid and went on the hunt. They found a nice area of seabass and managed to put one on the boat. We will see what happens this afternoon.

Marina del Rey daytime temperatures have been hovering in the MID to LOW SIXTIES during the day, DROPPING INTO THE UPPER FIFTIES in the evening under cool, overcast skies. Persons accustomed to the recent BLAZING HEAT may find the COOL,MOIST SEA AIR uncomfortable and even if FISHING IS RED HOT there is no substitute for ADEQUATE CLOTHING to remain comfortable during outdoor activity.

976-TUNA GPS Gold Member Mike Price Scores 20 Plus Pound White Seabass at Catalina this morning
Mike Price just checked in and is already having a nice day on the water. "We just caught a 20 plus pound white seabass right on your ( GPS) numbers," said Price. They have also caight and released a huge black seabass. Price will be heading offshore so we wish him continued success today.
Weather continues to be good, with lots of sunshine, clear skies, and just enough breeze to keep the heat down. We started morning looking for Yellows, but their was none to be found. So we made a move to the north, and we started picking away at the Yellows. Most of the fish were in the 12 to 15 pound range.
We made a short move to try our luck at some Calico bass, and we didn't get disappointed. We had a steady bite on the Calico, and one lonely Halibut (about 15 pounds). With the offshore bite not happening, we will give it another try for the Yellowtail tomorrow. So wish us luck, and we will keep you posted on our daily events. The R/p crew.
